Private beta · local-first

yuh catch ah vaps? Think it through. Later.

A vaps is a sudden notion — the idea that arrives while you are deep in something else. Vaps is a local-first offline PWA for developers, founders, and professionals who need that thought out of their head and back into their work, with nothing to decide at the moment of capture.

Device-local storage. Works offline. Export when you choose.

The problem

Good ideas rarely arrive when your project board is open.

By the time the meeting ends, the tab loads, and the form asks for a dozen fields, the useful part is gone.

Context switches cost the thought

Capture the rough version now. Give it structure when you have the attention.

Document tools want too much

Vaps starts with one fast field, then lets you organize ideas into tags, categories, and hierarchy later.

Cloud is always a choice

The capture loop stays local-first. Sign in only when you want personal sync or an invited shared project.

Product proof

A small workflow you can trust.

The product is intentionally narrow. It helps you keep the idea, then gets out of the way.

Open. Type or speak. Done.

Capture in the moment. Organize on your terms.

Use the installable PWA from a browser tab or home screen. Your local data stays available when you are offline.

Try the PWA
  • Title, optional details, tags, categories, pinning, and status.
  • Search, hierarchy, sorting, restore, and export from the same local app.
  • Optional personal sync and invited shared projects keep credentials, preferences, and drafts private.

One app, your vocabulary

It speaks the way you already think.

Vaps ships three profiles. Pick one in Settings and every category, status, and prompt changes wording to match. The capture flow underneath stays identical.

Developer

Feature, bug, and app language for software work.

Fresh · Exploring · In Progress · Shipped

Entrepreneur

Opportunity and venture language for founders and builders.

Fresh · Testing · Building · Live

Professional

Project and note language for broader work capture.

Inbox · Reviewing · Doing · Done

Data safety

Private by default, clear about the tradeoff.

Local-first means Vaps does not hold a server-side copy of your ideas. It also means backups are your responsibility.

What stays local

Ideas, tags, projects, preferences, and configured provider credentials stay in your browser's IndexedDB or local storage. Backup exports include ideas, tags, projects, and restorable preferences—never API keys or GitHub tokens.

What you control

Export before clearing site data, restore only validated Vaps backups, and contact support with synthetic examples or the app's safe diagnostics block.

Built for repeat use

Enough structure to come back tomorrow.

Fast capture

Keep the first action focused on the title, not a project-management ceremony.

Useful later

Search, filter, tag, nest, pin, and move ideas forward when you are ready.

Portable by choice

Copy or export your ideas into the tools you already use. Direct integrations remain deliberately deferred.

Private beta

Try the PWA or help shape the next version.

The first beta is for people who capture ideas often and are comfortable owning local backups. There is no billing or subscription checkout in this pass.

Use the app link if it is configured for this environment. Otherwise, the form creates a private-beta request for support.

We do not use this form for product analytics. Your message opens a draft email to support.

FAQ

Good questions before you trust a local app.

Can I capture by speaking?

Yes. Quick dictation uses your browser’s own speech recognition, so it needs no account or key, and Vaps falls back to typing where a browser does not support it. Your browser may process speech on-device or with its speech service; Vaps does not store the audio. Recorded transcription through OpenAI is separate, opt-in, and labelled before capture.

Do I have to be a developer to use it?

No. Vaps ships Developer, Entrepreneur, and Professional profiles. The profile changes the wording of categories, statuses, and prompts throughout the app; the capture flow itself is the same for everyone, and you can switch profile at any time in Settings.

Why is it called Vaps?

In Trinidadian English a vaps is a sudden impulse or notion — you "take a vaps" when you act on something that hits you out of nowhere. That is what this app is for: the thought that arrives unannounced and is gone just as fast if nothing catches it.

Is Vaps a cloud app?

The core capture loop is local-first and works offline. Optional personal sync and invited shared projects use cloud services only after you choose them. Shared project ideas and tags can be read by collaborators according to role; personal credentials, preferences, drafts, and local settings are not team data.

What happens if I clear browser storage?

Local ideas can be lost. Export a JSON backup before clearing site data or moving browsers, and keep the file private because it contains your ideas.

Does Vaps send ideas to you?

Not by default. If you configure an AI or GitHub provider, selected content is sent directly to that provider for the action you requested. Do not send backups or secrets to support.

What is the closed beta validating?

We are measuring whether fast capture and small invited project teams are reliable enough to widen access before any paid public launch.
